F.W. Murnau's unauthorised 1922 silent adaptation of Dracula gives the vampire legend the full German Expressionist treatment, centring itself visually on the physical contortions of Max Schreck as the evil Count Orloff – not a sophisticated aristocrat but a rather pathetic monster, with pointed ears, rat-like teeth and a mournful stare. Screens as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival, with live score by Tess Said So
